Something Cold and Creamy and Sweet

In the midst of work and internships and the daily hassles of life, not to mention the good ol’ Kentucky heat dripping with humidity that comes with the season of summer, it’s nice to know that there is always Thursday.

I find myself venturing all the way to downtown Louisville for the simple and pleasant joy of Gelato Cart Thursday at Proof on Main throughout the entire summer. It’s something small to look forward to, and I still get giddy with anticipation each week to find out the three select flavors concocted for the day.

Blueberry sorbet, peanut butter, pistachio, brown butter toffee, or maybe even salted caramel and white peach-pineapple sorbet like today.

I’ll find my quaint corner in the bustling city and delight in my cool, fresh treat. This sweet moment often lasts not even thirty minutes, but, short as it is, it’s still something lovely that I completely enjoy in the summer afternoon.

Then this happened.

Shorty's Strawberry Shortcake

Somehow only hours after noshing on delicate, simple gelato, I found myself at The Comfy Cow ordering this massive hunk of creamy goodness.

It’s the special seasonal flavor Shorty’s Strawberry Shortcake. It’s The Comfy Cow’s already drool-worthy Cake “Batter Up” ice cream, but with strawberry swirled throughout.

Somehow, gelato for lunch and ice cream for dessert seemed like an incredibly good idea. And it was. Every person should try it. It’s good for the soul.

If anything, I promise you’ll have the best nap of your life afterward.
